Army leadership express reservation over US Af-Pak policy

The army leadership has informed US Administration about its reservation over US New policy regarding Pakistan and Afghanistan and President Asif Ali Zardari during his visit to USA will also advocate the stance of Pakistan in this connection.

Sources in Pakistan army told that military top brass including Chairman Joint Chief of Staff Committee, General Tariq Majid made it clear to the US leadership during the recent visit of Chairman US Joint Chief of Staff Committee, Admiral Mike Mullen, Commander of the US Central Command, General David Patris and Commander of the Allies forces in Afghanistan, McCrystal that similar policy for Pakistan and Afghanistan by US would not prove successful.

“There is far difference in the situation in Afghanistan and Pakistan and if US tries to implement the same policy in Pakistan than it would not only yield negative results but it will also affect the Pak-US relations, ” the army leadership said.

Sources said that army has informed in written to the US administration about its reservations regarding its new Af-Pak policy.

The Top Brass told that government of Pakistan in collaboration of Pakistan army and the masses achieved outstanding success in its war against terrorism. They said that war against terrorism has caused loss of billions of dollars to Pakistan but it was provided only small aid of US$1.5 billion.

Sources told that Chief of Army Staff, General Ashfaq Pervez Kayani and General Tariq Majeed during the meeting with President Asif Ali Zardari advised him to convince US not to see Pakistan and Afghanistan in same prospective and separate policy must be adopted for Pakistan.

Sources said that President Asif Ali Zardari has completed consultation in this connection and he will convince US President Barrack Obama in this regard while US Military leadership also assured Pakistan to reconsider facts and figures in this connection.
